My name is Nan Mead. I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years, and a footcare nurse for the past three and a half years. I am certified in Footcare by both the American Footcare Nurse Association and the WOCNCB. I am fully insured and am currently offering home visits on a sliding price scale to residents of Franklin County and the North Quabbin region.
For the majority of my nursing career I enjoyed working as a school nurse, but decided after 20 years to retire early. I then set out to find my next passion. I eventually stumbled upon footcare nursing and was happily surprised to find it to be a fulfilling nursing field. I continue to be inspired by my clients' gratitude following footcare!
When learning about footcare I was reminded of a childhood memory of my grandparents coming to visit us overseas. On the airplane my grandmother wore her "fancy" shoes for the occasion. She had diabetes and those shoes caused a small sore on one of her toes. That little injury eventually led to her having her lower leg amputated. Realizing that I was learning the skills to help prevent this from happening to others was an inspiration.
I also took up running later in life and am now a marathoner and an ultra runner, so I have great appreciation for my own feet and want to keep them strong and healthy so I can continue running as long as possible. This is also reflected in my joy in helping others improve their foot health to keep them moving as pain free as possible.
If you or a loved one cannot manage their own footcare, please reach out via phone or email and I would be happy to help!
Nurse Nan is happy to service clients located throughout Franklin County and the North Quabbin Area.

"Two years ago I had just about given up hope of being able to continue to run, hike, and walk my dog without pain. I basically limped along through my daily activities. Warts on my toes, callouses, and ingrown toe nails were derailing me. Until I reached out to Nan.
Nan sincerely cared that I be able to continue my physical pursuits. The process was slow but steady improvement. She was gentle, careful, and thoughtful in her approach. With her help I realized I had unknowingly contributed to my ailments with narrow restrictive footwear, painful unsuccessful treatments, and by allowing my feet to have become weak and less mobile.
Nan addressed my issues with thorough footcare. She did not just deal with the symptoms. Together we worked to remediate my problems. Today I see her periodically for wellness checks and maintenance. I am grateful for her expertise and her desire to help me. She truly values the importance of healthy, happy feet!"

“I definitely recommend Nan she did so much for my feet. I had many corns, callouses and shoes that were causing pain and other issues. She recommended a shoe and my feet are so so much better after only a few months, she is amazing and takes the time to explain things.”

“When Nan started taking care of my wife’s feet, she had callouses, sores, and nails growing up instead of out. Now she has none of those problems. Her feet are in great shape. With Nan’s help, my wife has escaped the agony of de feet.
Nan has been great.”
